Saint Dominic Academy fields competitive, award-winning teams in a variety of sports, including basketball, soccer, softball and track and field.2006 - 2007 Blue Devils Sports

Soccer The team finished 2006 with a 12-6 record under new coaches Colette Lenahan and Patrick Reindel. The team lost to DePaul in the state tournament and Bayonne in the H.C.I.A.A. semi finals. The team finished third in the H.C.I.A.A. regular season.
Tennis - The vastly improved netters qualified for the H.C.I.A.A.Playoffs. The team, coached by Marilyn Wilson and led by senior Angela Condo, finished with a 10-5 record.
Cross Country - The team won the Jersey City title for the 26th straight year and the South Hudson Championship for the 23rd year in a row. Amy Figueroa stabilized a sophomore dominated team.
Indoor Track and Field It has been a thrilling season for this overachieving team. They stayed focused, overcame unexpected obstacles and gamely extended the following streaks: Jersey City Championship(10 years straight; 21 of 23); H.C.I.A.A. Relays and Individuals (4 years in a row and 13 of past 18 years); and Hudson County Championship (4th year in a row). The Program has now won 70 City titles, 69 H.C.I.A.A. crowns and 34 County team titles.
After a lackluster performance at Brown, the team excelled at challenging meets at Yale and West Point. Kim Hudock broke the County record in the mile, held previously by Christine Capetola '05 (Christine is now a sophomore student athlete at the University of Pennsylvania.) Hudock and Lauren Moore qualified for the State Meet of Champions and were joined by Katherine Capetola, Kristina Jiminez and Morgan West. All earned medals st the state relays held in the Jersey City Armory. Christine Kemp '08 became the 15th Blue Devil to toss the Shot 30 plus feet.
At the Easterns Meet in March 2007, Senior Kim Hudock broke a county record for 1600 meters at 5:21.5. Morgan West was the first Sophomore to high jump 5 feet indoors. Junior Lauren Moore had a personal best on the high hurdles.
The team of Hudock, West, Moore and Sophomore Katherine Capetola also qualified and competed for the Indoor Nationals. Six Blue Devils alums are currently competing in college.
Basketball Under first year Coach Reggie Quinn, the team played with commitment and dedication throughout the season. It played aggressive defense and battled some of New Jersey's best teams, qualifying for the H.C.I.A.A. playoffs. Senior Stefanie Philips joined the 1,00 point club.
Dance The Blue Devil Dance Team placed 11th at the National Dance Alliance in Florida, and 4th in New Jersey in the Pom Division. The team also received the NJCDCA Sportsmanship Award; it was the only dance team in the state to receive the award, and the team was nominated by its peers.
Swimming The team had another wonderful season, extending their lengthy winning city meet winning streak and winning the newly formatted H.C.I.A.A. Coached by Terry Matthews and alum Danielle Florio, '00, the Blue Devils enjoyed a 7-1 dual meet record.
Outdoor Track and Field - The Blue Devils Outdoor Track and Field team won the Jersey City Meet for the 15th time. The team also won the HCIAA Championship for the 4th year in a row. They also won the County Championship for the 5th year in a row, something that has never been done before by any boys or girls team.
The team also medaled at Penn, for the 3rd year in a row and the 11th time in 25 years.
Senior Amy Figueroa was a member of 16 winning teams at HCIAA meets during her four years at SDA. She ran all 12 seasons.
Kim Hudock placed 3rd in the Intermediate hurdles and qualified for her 5th Meet of Champions/State Finals to be held on June 9. Lauren Moore also placed 3rd in the 5 feet high jump. She qualified for her 2nd Meet of Champions. The 1600 meter Relay of Hudock, Joseph, West and Moore also qualified for the Meet of Champions. They finished 4th in Parochial A.
The team will compete at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg and in North Carolina for the Outdoor Nationals.
Softball The Blue Devils softball team 2007 record was 19:12. The team won the HCIAA Championship for the 4th time in the past 5 years, beating North Bergen in the Championship. Ten Seniors were on the team including Stefanie Philips, Anna McCarthy, Caitlin Lundberg, Jaclyn Tredo, and Annette Aligo. They've won 3 HCIAA titles in 4 years.
Overall, the softball team won 4 titles in 5 years. The team traveled to Delaware, Tennessee and Connecticut for games.
